Information
I thought it would be a good idea to personalise a coaster with a map.

Instruction
1
Step1: Grab an image of the map
  1. Go to snazzymaps.com and enter the location you'd like to see on the coaster.
  2. Look for a map style that you like and modify it as you see fit (less is more) :)
  3. Make a screenshot of the area you want on your coaster.
2
Step2: Import and modify the image
  1. Import the image into XCS.
  2. Crop the image using the cropping tool
  3. The image will most likely have a white background so you'll want to remove this to make the background transparent using the magic wand
3
Step3: Fit onto your coaster
  1. Create a placeholder which represents your coaster (mine is 10x10 cm).
    1. Ensure that its output is disabled
  2. Optional but I like a border and XSC has some great ones so select a border which will fit inside the coaster
  3. Place the image into the placeholder
  4. Let the laser do its magic!

Step4: Finishing up

I like to stain the wood but if you do so, ensure that you apply evenly on both sides to stop warping.

Optional: Add four cork feet to the base
Optional: Apply a couple of coats of clear matt varnish
