I thought it would be fun taking one of my photographs, a lizard holding onto a wire mesh, as the inspiration for this one. Using a tree slice and adding a rope to hand completed the look.
You can get a thin slice of wood (sometimes with the rope attached) at a discount or craft store. Another option is to slice a branch into pieces.
I bought my piece from one of the “dollar stores”.
Place the material into the xTool. If it does have a string make sure that it is taped down so it doesn't get in the way during the processing.
Set up the machine. First, laser focus (the ruler icon on the top right). Next set the processing area - use the polygon to get the shape as these are not round (this is the golf icon with the flag).
I used the default setting for the 10 mm wood coaster. Depending upon the wood you may need to modify.
I did engraving (image and text) and also scoring the lizard to capture the entire outline of the image.
Process the piece.
If you used a piece that didn't have a string, you can use either a small stapler gun or glue it on.
I spray mine with clear enamel that also brings out more of the wood color.
Enjoy!
