Step1: Cutout

Load two (or more!) appropriately contrasting pieces of acrylic into the laser cutter.  In the XCS file you'll find separately the cat face pieces and the larger, rounded edge backing piece.  Cut out and save all the bits.  Be careful not to lose the tiny parts as they will fall through into the bottom tray.  Use of the honeycomb panel is recommended.

It is also highly suggested that you take the paper/plastic covering off both sides of the acrylic before you cut it out, as removing the covering from the tiny parts after cutting adds a lot of un-necessary work.

Please note that the cat is sized so that if rotated with ears to the side, it will fit perfectly in the standard sample pieces you can get in assortments from Xtool.

Pick the desired base, outline and the two large face pieces.  Use a reasonably viscous glue like B7000 and put a few dots on the back of the outline and face pieces and set.  Allow the glue to set a bit.

Now reverse the gluing process to put the dots of glue directly onto the base, in the holes of the larger face parts.  Use tweezers to set all the little parts into the larger face parts.  Mix and match colors as desired to create various looks.  We like black and white, but also found mixing in the glow-in-the-dark was fun, too.  Attached photo is a mix of black, white and glow in the dark.

Do note that not all plastic sheets are exactly the same thickness.

Works nicely for pins or as a refrigerator magnet.  Might be fun for earrings, too.
