Information
This project involves creating a beautiful Easter decoration, perfect for adding a festive touch to your home and suitable for all skill levels.

You'll start by selecting a suitable wood, then follow the guide to set up your laser cutter and execute the cut with precision. You can choose to paint the wood before or after cutting if you want, and finally, assemble the pieces to create a stunning decoration.

This project includes three slightly different versions, each with a stand. It features a three/four layered design based on 3mm plywood, where the parts are glued together.

Version info (layered 3mm)

  • v1: 6mm base, with optional stand
  • v2: 3mm base, with optional stand
  • v3: 9mm base, with optional stand (simplest to align and glue)

Note: The stand of each version is not transposable.

Begin by selecting a suitable wood for your Easter decoration. I used a 3mm Basswood Plywood for this. Ensure it is smooth and free of any imperfections.

If desired, you can paint the wood either before or after cutting to add color and enhance the design. If you paint it before, allow the paint to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Next, prepare your laser cutter. Carefully place the wood on the cutting bed, ensuring it is securely positioned.

Now, load the design file into xTool Creative Space and adjust the settings for optimal processing with your machine and according to the wood you use. The kerf offset for the red lines are only for the base of the stand. I recommend that you set it to the half as usually since we glue the parts of the easter decoration. For example, if -0.1 is your common setting, set it to -0.05.

Refer to the design file for guidance on the different line colors:

  • Blue and Cyan lines: These lines indicate where the laser will cut.
  • Red lines: These lines indicate where the laser will cut with kerf offset. Please set it to the right value for your machine and material/wood you use. See https://support.xtool.com/article/1425
  • Purple: Is for engraving.
  • Yellow lines: These lines are for scoring.
  • Black: Is ignored by the laser.

Make sure the design is scaled correctly to fit your chosen wood piece. Execute the cut with precision, following safety guidelines to avoid any mishaps.

Once the cutting is complete, remove the wood from the laser cutter and inspect the pieces.

Refer to the image in Step 1 to identify your parts.

Now, take parts “A”, “B”, and “C”. We are going to glue these parts together.

First, take part “C” and glue it onto part “B”. Let it dry completely. Next, take part “A” and the parts you just glued together (“B” and “C”). Flip it over (as seen in the image) and position part “A” on top. Refer to the Helper-Image to ensure that 6mm of space is left at the bottom.

Next, glue the piece labeled “D” on top of the assembled front and back pieces. Refer to the images for precise placement.

Let the glue dry completely, and you are done.

Congratulations 🎉 your Easter decoration for the wall or door is ready to show off!

The next step involves creating a stand if you choose to use or make one.

The last step involves assembling the stand (optional). Refer to the images and glue the parts together. The score line on one of the bigger parts will help you align the smaller top parts correctly.

Congratulations 🎉 you now have your Easter decoration with a stand!
