Instruction

1

Step1

1) Prepare image for laser engraving by dithering it in your preferred image adjustment software (I use imag-r and follow their listed steps in order)

A) Drag and drop image into imag-r

B) Crop the section of the image that you wish to engrave ( in this case i am cropping a square)

C) Adjust image size to 4.5x4.5 (or the exact size of the mirror you are engraving)

•In this screen you will also set your dpi to 318 for the 5w and 10w

D) Next select the material button then select Norton glass (this is going to dither your image)

E) Last is to download the Image as your preferred file type (i typically download as a .BMP)

2) Import dithered image into lightburn (or preferred software) and set your parameters

A) Set image layer to negative

B) Set image layer to passthrough

C) speed 50mm/s power 60%

D) overscan at 3%

3) clean mirror on both sides with glass or lense cleaner

4) Position mirror into workspace

A) Place mirror on the honeycomb bed "floating" supported only by the 4 corners FACE DOWN (refer to images)

• DO NOT SET MIRROR DIRECTLY ONTO HONEYCOMB IT WILL ETCH THE FACE

B) Square mirror up to the machine using the cross hair or laser spot

C) Frame based on preferred origin point (ensure the laser is aligned to your mirror)

D) Run the program

5) Paint the back of the mirror with black spray paint of choice

A) I like to do two even coats of paint and then one coat of polyurethane to seal it
