Information
A 3D Easter egg made from laser cut flat pieces. The pieces are carefully designed to allow them to flex.
It will be a showcase in any Easter basket.
The wooden egg is sturdier than a real one but still delicate. However, it will last for much longer.

Instruction

Step1: Prepare the parts

For assembly, you will require the following parts:

  • laser cut parts
  • wood glue
  • rubber band, string or tape

If you wish to paint the egg I suggest you do that at the end once fully assembled.

Step2: Assemble the middle portion

For this step you will need two circular parts with cutouts and the spacer stick.

Apply glue to all parts as shown in the pictures.

Join the parts together. Make sure the top and bottom are parallel and aligned. If not, the sides won't look as nice but you will still be able to assemble the egg.

Wait for the glue to completely cure.

Step3: Install the sides

In this step you will install the sides. The sides have a small circle on one end. This is the top part and will go in to the smaller circle.

Take the assembly from previous step.

Next, simply push the side in to the top and bottom parts, through the cutouts. Push the side as far to the external edge as possible.

Install the next side and continue until all sides are installed. The last one may be a bit difficult but it shouldn't be too hard to put in.

Push the sides as far out as possible. Also make sure that the sides are aligned in the middle, to each other. I use a toothpick to move them around if needed and align them so it looks nice.

I recommend that you apply a rubber band at the widest part of the egg, as in the picture. You can also use a piece of string or tape. This will keep everything together and prevent movement.

Apply glue on to bottom part and to the side stub edge as seen in the second picture. Now put in the larger round part. Repeat the same step for the top part.

This will finish up the egg and also serves as a bracket to fix in the sides.

I also suggest you apply some glue in between the sides. This will further increase the strength. See the last picture.

Wait for the glue to completely cure.

The glue should be completely cured.

Remove the rubber band.

You can now paint the egg.

And you are done! Enjoy.
