A simple puzzle for those who like honey bees. Minimal wood used.
Bees are really cool creatures. This puzzle was inspired by a bee hive in the yard. The base of the puzzle is the bee in the center. The project takes just a few minutes to cut and a few minutes to assemble.
Download and open the file in xcs. Each color represents a different laser setting. the important setting is the green layer which is the cut layer. This layer you will need to adjust based on your material and its thickness.
There is a bitmap of a bee for use when coloring the bee, this should not be cut.
Load your material and set the height and material type.
The file cuts out a backing board and the puzzle parts with the retaining ring.
Because the retaining ring is lasered from the same space as the parts, you may need to sand the inside to make the parts fit neatly.
Once the puzzle parts fit within the retaining ring, stain the retaining ring if you want a contrast to the puzzle parts. I use a colored marker to color in the ring.
There is a picture of a Bee in the xcs file. Use this to color in the bee with markers. Because the laser has scored the lines in the wood, the ink will not want to spread past the lines. This being said, don't overdo the ink as it will eventually blead through the the lines.
The puzzle is pretty easy to solve as the parts are unique throughout.
If you want to sell this puzzle, you may want to print out a solution card for the buyer to keep just in case they can't solve the puzzle.
A solution card in included in the pictures. Each color is one part.
