I made a bank project for Valentines day. Because I made multiple layers I had several "hearts" lying around. When I was at the range recently I thought a couple pieces of brass might make a great addition to a heart. This is what I came up with.
For my project this is a piece of scrap wood. However, you can access the shapes menu in XCS and create one to the size you want.
The brass is 9mm if you wish to use a different size you can measure your piece and create a hole the proper size.
I used Sedona Red stain and applied it before I engraved in order to give the two colors much more distinction.
Since the engrave and the cut are done all at once it is a pretty simple process.
Once this comes off the machine simply glue in the brass pieces and give it a good coat of polyurethane.
