These files will create a small 4" version of the vintage mail bag that postman use to carry in the 1970's.
This project can see a little tough but it makes a great display item.
I highly recommend a 2-3 oz (1mm) thick leather. If you are using a F1 I recommend a veg-tan leather.
Lets start out by stitching the gussets together. There are two stitch lines that will connect the gusset and rivets.
You will want to use extra small rivets for this project.
This bag will require a 8mm buckle. These buckles can be found on old women's watches.
Using the buckle tab, rivet and connect the buckle to the bottom section of the front of the bag section.
Then take the buckle closure strap and use a rivet to attach to the bottom of the flap section
Now stitch the flap to the back section using the two rows of stitches.
Now you will need to attach your ½" D-rings to the two holes on the back of your flap section with rivets.
Now when you stitch this bag together you will need to stitch it inside out, you will stitch both of your front and back sections to each side of your gusset. Using a saddle stitch.
Once you are done stitch it together, take your bag and get it nice a wet. While wet it will be soft enough for you to turn it inside out.
Let dry.
now you just need to attach your gusset straps to each end of the bag at the top section of the gusset.
Finished.
