Imported an image of a cactus and removed the background. Then clicked the outline button, to make a cut outline and set the outline to zero.

Then imported an image of a Santa hat and did the same with the outline.

Step2: Attaching the Santa hat and cactus

I moved the outline from the hat image and placed it over the top of the cactus.

I then clicked the combine and unite button, so the hat is one with the cactus.

Inserted a circle and made it smaller and copy and pasted it several times and placed them randomly in the cactus.

Step3: Santa hat

I used the image of the Santa hat and did another outline and set the outline to zero.

I also set the engraving settings for the hat and then grouped the hat image and out line, so it couldn't detach.

Set it a side.

Step4: Making the bottom part

Inserted a square and stretched it, to make it a rectangle and placed it under the cactus.

I then adjusted the size, so it would fit and stick out enough, so it would fit in the slit for the bottom.

I clicked on combine and unite, so the stick out part is attached to the cactus.

Step5: The face

Inserted an image of eyes and a mouth and removed the back ground.

Then clicked on the outline button and set it to one.

I then place both on the cactus, to see where i wanted to put them.

Since there were some circles in the way, I moved the circles around, so i had enough space for the eyes and mouth.

Step6: The bottom

I inserted a square and made it rectangle. I placed it under the part that sticks out on the bottom, so i knew how wide it had to be. Since the acrylic and wood is about 3mm thick, i set the rectangle height to 3mm.

Then i place another rectangle for the bottom and made it a little wider then the cactus.

I then moved the smaller rectangle in the middle of the bottom and grouped it, so it couldn't move and set the cut settings.

Step7: All the pieces

I outlined the cactus again, so i have a cutout for the back.

I then realized that the bottom wouldn't fit both cactus pieces, so i copied the inner cut out and made the bottom part bigger, so both cut outs would fit in the bottom for both the front and the back cactus and copied the bottom piece, so there are two.

Step8: Putting it together

Once everything is cut out. I glued the 2 bottom pieces together and painted it green. I did the same with the back cactus.

I also painted the Santa hat and eyes and mouth and glued them on the cactus.

I then weaved the neon wire string through the holes.

Glued the back cactus in the back slit and then the front cactus with the light string.

I did ad some glue to the bottom, since it was a little loose.

Placed the battery operated case in between the front and back cactus.

Hope you like this lighted Santa Cactus tutorial and give it a like.

Thank you!
