These files will help you create a small leather purse keychain. This project is for experienced leather craftsmen and will need a basic knowledge of leather working. Purse is about 3" by 2 1/2" when complete Hardware needed will be (1) sam brown stud, (2) 1/2" D-Rings, (1) Key Ring
For this project you will need a 2-3oz veg-tan leather. 1mm thick.
You wil need to cut out the following.
(1) Front Flap
(1) Front Body
(1) Back Body
(2) Gusset Pieces
(2) D-Ring Tabs
Now lets put a coat of oil on each piece and let dry.
Lets take your gusset pieces and use the leather tabs to attach your d-rings to the ends.
I used a .6mm tiger thread with a crisscross stitch.
Next take some new thread and preform a saddle stitch to connect your two ends.
Make sure you skip the very last hole on each side.
Now attach your sam brown to the center hole.
You are now ready to stitch the front body piece to one side of your gusset, use a saddle stitch and go all the way around.
Now repeat the last step and stitch the back section to the other side of the guesset using a saddle stitch.
If you plan to do your edges now is a good time to sand them down and burnish them.
Now using a saddle stitch attach your front flap to the back top edge.
Now just stuff your bag with items and close.
Your done.
