Information
A unique twist on wedding invitations, I present to you the wedding invite playbill. Designed to look like a movie poster/playbill, it presents a template to use for your own invitations. Including Producer (Parents), Director(Wedding planner or Officiator), Music Director, and Photography Director, you will have plenty of space to provide all information needed. Even if not used as an invitation, remove some of the details like the RSVP at the bottom and it makes a great wedding gift.
Included are both the XCS file and SVG file.
Size of the engraved item is 8x10 but can be adjusted according to your specifications.
Used 1/8" Birch but can also be done on other materials such as balsa and cardstock with adjusted settings.
NOTE: Artwork in this is AI Generated but the design of the project, the lettering and style is done by me.

I have been toying with this idea for a while. A friend recently asked me for something along these lines and I decided now was the perfect opportunity. I showed him and his fiance this example and they loved it. They are getting these done as invites on 1/8" balsa. I figured if he wanted this type of invite then others may as well, so I decided to offer it up for use by other laser engravers.

The size of this is 8x10 on birch but can be adjusted accordingly to your specifications and material. We did one as a 5x6.25 (the size they want to mail out) and it still turned out great.

The file is set up to be adjusted. What this means is that you can go in and change any part. Be sure to visit each section to adjust the text according to what you want it to say. To do so, select the area you want to adjust. Some of them are grouped together so you will have to ungroup them and then double click on the part you want to change the words to.

The parts to be sure to visit are:

Bride Name (photo 1)

Groom Name (photo 1)

Date of wedding (photo 2)

Produced by (Parents names - Photo 2)

Directed by (Wedding Planner or Officiator - photo 2)

Music by (DJ or Band name - photo 2)

Director of Photography (photographer - photo 2)

Ceremony Location (photo 2)

Reception Location (photo 2)

RSVP by (photo 2)

If using this as a gift, remove whatever parts you like such as the RSVP date. You do this by right clicking the part you want to removed and either delete or cut it. Also, if using this as a gift or memory keepsake, you may want to consider doing this on a thicker wood and putting a hanger or kickstand on the back.  I offer kickstands on Designfind as well.

Once completed, you may want to consider putting a thin coat of spray shellac or poly on it to give it a protective coating.

Step2: Engraving your Piece

The settings provided here are for 1/8" (3mm) birch from xTool. If using a different material then you will want to adjust your settings accordingly. Since this is a really thin wood, if the engrave is heavy, it can sometimes cause warping to the wood. Lightly spray the wood with a thin coat of water and then set a heavy object on top to flatten it. Let it set for 24 hours.

Once you have engraved and cut out the sign, use 200 grit sandpaper and sand away any burn marks. Do not go heavy on the pressure with the sandpaper as overburn comes off fairly easily. Clear out any dust using a can of air, air compressor, or just manually blowing it off. Make sure it is free of dust before putting any kind of finish on top.

Step3: Let me see what you do

I would love to see what you come up with for your own invitations/playbills. If you use this, post a picture in the comments and let me see it. I would like to know how it turned out for you!
