Having recently refitted our kitchen I wanted to create some art work that fitted into our style. The design can be made to look different depending on the colours used and the type of frame it is set in. This is design 1 of 3 which includes a pig, chicken and cow.
To start, make sure you select the materials you want to use for this project. I used draftboard for the geometric shape so that it can be painted and then vennered wood for the rest.
Once you have selected you material, ensure that you select each element and set the thickness and settings correctly for your laser and material. This is an important step as otherwise the material may not cut through correctly. The settings given are an example only and are correct for my machine and materials used at the time of making.
Ensure that elements are set over your desired material using the camera on the laser or the framing tool.
Cut out each element (the back board, the outline and the geometric shape)
Once cut remove from the lazer, clean the base plate and wip over the parts of the design if needed.
Now paint the geometric pig shape in whichever colour you wish. We used white paint (as this is the color scheme of the kitchen). To make it even a few layers of acrylic paint were applied using a sponge and dabbing the paint over.
Allow to dry
Glue all elements together and allow to dry. Wipe any excess glue away before it sets to hard. I use a cotton bud to do this.
Once the design is dry we selected a frame (this deep box frame looked good in our kitchen) but you can use any typle of frame you wish.
We paired the design with the others in the collection to create a stunnig and unique piece of art!
