Instruction

Step1: Lasercut templates

Lasercut the required design files.

You will only need to cut the side and the backrest. The other pieces can be cut with any circular saw.

Step2: Use double sided tape and drill holes

Use some double sided tape to tape the template to your 18 mm Multiplex. I used the same Grade 1 Oak as the 2 in 1 learning tower.
Next mark out the templates with a pencil on your workpieces and drill some pilot holes to cut the inside rectangles.

Step3: Cut and route the pieces

Cut all workpieces as close to the pencil line as possible. Both inside and outside edges need to be cut. Use a router to route all the workpieces to the exact size of their template.

Step4: Mark and drill holes

  • Mark out the holes with a punch
  • Drill 8mm holes, 6mm deep
  • Clamp everything together and drill pilot holes for the mounting screws
  • Screw them together

Step5: Plug holes and sand everything

Plug the holes with some contrasting wood. I used Wenge plugs as I had them lying around. Flush cut the plugs and sand everything to achieve a perfect finish.

Step6: Finish the pieces

I used some Rubio Monocoat - Cotton white to finish the piece. It's a 2 component finisher. Mix accordingly and simply rub in the oil with a cloth, leave it to rest for 5 minutes and whipe of any excess oil.
