Information

A 2 in 1 learning tower for our little girl.
The file contains all required parts for reference.
I only lasered 4 parts, I just cut the rest with a table saw. You can use any circular saw to cut the pieces. You will need a router to route the templates to the exact measurements.
A tutorial is provided for reference.
Hope you'll like it!

Lasercut the required design files.

You will only need to cut the

  • “Table-side”
  • “Bench-side”
  • “Bench-Tabletop”

The other pieces are just rectangles that can be cut with any saw.

Step2: Combine the template

The “Bench-side” comes in 2 pieces.
I do not own an automatic conveyor feeder for P2 and it doesn't seem we can order them in the EU. Wish I could get my hands on one of those! :D

Next best option is to glue and nail both pieces together.

Step3: Use double side tape

Use some double sided tape to tape the template to your 18 mm Multiplex. I used Grade 1 Oak, because, well, I love great Oaks!
Next mark out the templates with a pencil on your workpieces and drill some pilot holes to cut the inside rectangles.

Step4: Cut the pieces

Cut all workpieces as close to the pencil line as possible. Both inside and outside edges need to be cut.

  • Mark out the holes with a punch
  • Drill 8mm holes, 6mm deep
  • Clamp everything together and drill pilot holes for the mounting screws
  • Screw them together

Step7: Plug holes and sand everything

Plug the holes with some contrasting wood. I used Wenge plugs as I had them lying around. Flush cut the plugs and sand everything to achieve a perfect finish.

Step8: Finish the pieces

I used some Rubio Monocoat - Cotton white to finish the piece. It's a 2 component finisher. Mix accordingly and simply rub in the oil with a cloth, leave it to rest for 5 minutes and whipe of any excess oil. It's a great workout, believe me!
