Information
A cute snowman with a carrot nose that can be designed completely in xTool Creative Space. Here's the step by step guide, but I've also included the design files for both the uncombined shapes that I used and
 the final finished piece.

Instruction
1
Step1: Draw The Face
Preview

Using the Insert option on the left toolbar, select circle and while holding your shift key on your keyboard (ensures a perfect circle) drag the mouse to create the circle. I adjusted the width to 4 inches (101.6 mm).

Step2: Draw The Top Hat
Preview
Preview
  1. From the left toolbar, select Insert>Rectangle. Draw a rectangle. The height should be very small mine is 12.7 mm. The width should be 4" (101.6 mm). (photo 1)
  2. From the left toolbar, select Insert>Rectangle. Draw a rectangle. The width should be substantially smaller than the first rectangle. The height should be much larger. Mine is 76.2mm wide X 38.1 high. (photo 2)
  3. Ensure that the first and second rectangles are center aligned. You can do this by selecting both rectangles, from the top toolbar select Align>Horizontal Align Center.

We're not going to worry about the placement of these two rectangles as they will be cut out and glued to the face circle. I'm simply placing them on the canvas so I can see how the final snowman will turn out.

Step3: Draw The Eyes

  1. Draw a circle about 12 mm wide. (photo 1)
  2. Add a vertical rectangle about 6 mm high. (photo 2)
  3. Copy and paste the rectangle and align both to make the circle look like a button.
  4. Select both rectangles and the circle. Right click and group the two. (photo 3)
  5. With the group selected, right click and copy. (photo 4)
  6. In the circle to the right of the first eye, right click and paste. (photo 5)

Step4: Draw The Nose Slot
Preview
Preview
Preview
  1. Draw a rectangle. This will be one of the most important sizes. For the carrot nose we are going to have a 20 mm wide tab that will fit in this slot, so I subtracted .3 mm from that to come up with 19.7 mm wide. The height is set to 3 mm to accomodate the 3mm basswood that I am using. You may need to unlock the aspect ration (the lock icon in between the width and height) to get this precise. (photo 1)
  2. Select the rectangle slot and the outer 4" circle. From the top toolbar, select Align>Horizontal align center (photo 2)
  3. With both still selected, from the top toolbar, select Align>Vertical align center. (photo 3)
5
Step5: Draw The Mouth
Preview
Preview

From the left toolbar, select Shape>Basic Shapes. Use the half circle to create the mouth. (photo 1)

Mine is 40mm wide X 19.66 mm high. (photo 2)

6
Step6: Draw The Cheeks
Preview
Preview

Draw a circle. I chose for these to be 10 mm. (photo 1)

Copy and paste so you have 2. (photo 2)

Do not worry about placement as these will be cut out separate from the snowman face.

From the left toolbar, select Shapes>Basic Shapes. Add the rounded triangle. (photo 1)

Click the rounded triangle to select it. Use the lock icon (between width and height) to unlock the aspect ratio. I set the width to 22.11mm and the height to 52.51mm. (photo 2)

In the Rotate box next to the height enter 180 to turn the carrot. (photo 3)

From the left toolbar, select Insert>Line. Holding the shift key on your keyboard, sporadically place horizontal lines on the carrot. (photo 4)

From the left toolbar, select Insert>Rectangle. Draw a rectangle that is 20.3mm wide X 5mm high. (photo 5)

Select the rectangle and the outline of the carrot. From the top toolbar, select Align>Horizontal align center. (photo 6)

Step8: Add The Ornament Topper

Preview
Preview
  1. Draw a rectangle that is 10mm wide X 5mm high. (photo 1)
  2. Position so that the rectangle is overlapping the top hat's top rectangle. From the top toolbar, select Align>Horizontal align center (photo 2).
  3. From the left toolbar, select Shapes>Basic Shapes. Insert a diamond. I changed the width to 10mm. Position so the diamond bottom sits on top of the small rectangle top. Select both the diamond and the small rectangle and from the top toolbar, select Align>Horizontal align center (photo 3).
  4. Select just the diamond. From the top toolbar, select Outline. Leave the offset at 2mm and press ok. (photo 4).

  3. Select the new combination (rectangle, diamond, top hat top rectangle) and the bottom rectangle of the top hat. From the top toolbar, select Combine>Unite. (photo 3)
  4. Make sure the bottom line of the rectangle overlaps with the carrot top. Select both the rectangle above the carrot and the outline of the carrot (make sure the lines on the carrot are not sleected). From the top toolbar select Combine>Unite. (photo 4)
  5. Select the carrot along with the lines within it. Right click and choose Group. (photo 5)
  6. Select the top hat and the diamond in the ornament hanger. Right click and choose Group. (photo 6)
  7. Select the face circle and the nose hole in the middle. Right click and choose Group. (photo 7)

Step10: Arrange The Pieces
Preview

There should be a total of 8 pieces that need to be cut. Arrange them so they fit on your wood. (photo 1)

Set the cut settings for everything but the lines on the carrot. I use 100% power, 4 Speed, 1 Pass with air assist.

Select the lines on the carrot that you drew. I set these to Score, 100% power, 40 Speed, 2 Passes with air assist.

Step11: Paint and Glue

Once the pieces are cut out, remove from the machine.

Here are the colors I used to paint. These are all Apple Barrel acrylic paint purchased through Walmart.

Top Hat, Eye Buttons, Mouth - Black

Carrot - Pumpkin Orange. I painted the top that slides into the slot New Shamrock in case it showed through.

Cheeks - Fruit Punch.

Face - White.

Once everything is dry, place the nose in the slot. Glue the top hat first so the brim of the hat is on top of the face. Next glue the eyes in place on the face. Then glue the mouth to the face. Finally add the check dots and glue to the face. The snowman ornament is complete :).
