If you're just getting your S1 or any laser system with an exhaust fan set up, this project and its files may help you start with an exhaust system for your laser. In the included video, I cover the parts and how I assembled my exhaust system in my garage. Now I can work on laser projects in any weather without worrying about fumes. The system is fairly inexpensive to build and doesn't require much effort to install.
To get started on this project, let's look at a list of parts we need to build an exhaust system.
If you have never cut through a wall with a hole saw, please research methods for this online. There are plenty of videos and guides for installing dryer vents, which would apply to this project.
Please watch the video linked above, or watch the video on YouTube to see my explanation of the system and parts.
When I cut through the wall in my garage, my inside hole did not line up, so I had to lower it just a little. To cover this up, I designed a circular trim piece out of ¼ inch plywood and cut that out on my S1.
You can modify this file however you need, but it is included in the project files.
I hope this guide has helped you to get ideas for your own ventilation system. While this setup is not perfect for all situations, I think it provides the basics needed to build upon and create a system for the S1. A reliable and effective ventilation system is much better than sticking the vent hose out a window, or under your garage door. Depending upon your budget, it may be better than filtering systems as well.
