I wanted to create a unique gift for my mother for valentines day and for the many women in the world that share the same experience she has gone through. A year ago I got my first tattoo with my mom. I had a smaller tattoo, so I was finished first, when I walked over to my mom, I saw she was getting a tattoo on her chest of a pair of wings and a halo that said a name and a date. I asked who was that for and she told me she had lost a child during her first pregnancy. I was 28 years old and had never heard this. She told me their isn't a day that she didn't think about him and had been wanting to get a tattoo in memory of him all this time but never did. She told me she never even got to see him even though he passed during pregnancy. She asked what the gender was and that was the only answer she got. she asked to see him but they told her they had a process and she would never be able to see him. Till this day she doesn't know what the hospital did with his body. She recently told me that ever since she got the tattoo she has felt more piece in her life. She has kept this silent in her life for so long so i thought of this project as another way to show her love for him and have a sense of pride for people to see. I hope this project helps shed a little light for others out there that have lost a child during pregnancy. Unfortunately she does not have an ultrasound of him so I will have his name in the place people can put their photo.
Step 1. Upload the attached XCS file. highlight each object and move into the positions that works best for the size of wood you are using. (I used 18Wx20L basswood 3mm thick). then, process the project.
Step 2. Put some glue on the smallest rectangle and paste it to the rectangle with the score mark on it(colored red in file). Use the score mark as a reference to center in the middle. Place the rectangle with a cut in the middle.
Step 3. Grab the heart cutout (with a circle cutout in it) and tape or glue the photo in place.
Step 4. glue and align both hearts together.
Step 5. put some glue in the groove of the baseplate and put the hearts in the groove. (if it feels like it will not fit. just use a little be of force and it will fit in)
