I was looking for a gift for my mother that would be personal and unique. I ended up selecting a discounted solid wood frame from a local store and customized it. My kids call her Gram so I added a special message, "We Love You Gram" and I included our names at the bottom. Gram also loves butterflies and plants so I added those embellishments as well. I think she's going to love it!
For this project I had to remove the baseplate and use a lower tier on the M1 riser base. I lowered the plate by 1 notch and auto-measured with the red dot. It was too low so I added a notebook on the tray first and lay the frame on top. This was perfect so that the machine could auto-measure.
I then proceeded to place the custom text and designs. I engraved with a setting of 50 power, 60 speed to achieve a nice result. The last step was to clean the surface of the frame. I used a Q-tip and alcohol to remove any discoloration.
