LOVE card with hearts illustration for Valentine's Day
Instruction
A beginner friendly 3 layer card which can either be laser-cut or paper-cut. As well as a variant where only one cut-engrave-score round is required.

Open either “.xcs” file in xTool Creative Space.
Laser
There is one workspace where all shapes are placed on.
- Primary Cut
The main shapes are cut-outs (like the heart pattern) and only the buttons are engraved. - Primary Engrave
The main difference to the first workspace is that now the heart pattern is engraved as well. - Single Cut/Engrave
The last variant is only using a single layer with additional engravings of the buttons in addition to the heart pattern.
Everything (except of the single layer variant) is arrange in two layers or material with potentially some additional layers with paper or very thin acrylic sheets. You might want to reuse additional cutouts provided in the “Blade-Version”.
Paper
There are three workspace you can select from - each one containing shapes for a single color.
- Blade - Front
A workspace containing the background color for the heart pattern as well as the buttons. - Blade - Middle
All - combined - middle layer shapes as well as the individual “LOVE”-characters. - Blade - Back
And a very basic rectangle which can be used as a backdrop layer for the “upper” cutout.
Alternatively there is a “.svg” file available which contains the card design too.
You might want to adjust your cutting settings based on the material used.
For my 20W M1 Ultra in combination with 4mm poplar plywood, I used a power setting of 85 and a speed of 5.

I used three different papers, each cut with one of the layers
- Gold cardboard
Gold is used as a backdrop for the upper part of the card. - White cardboard
Used for the middle layer as well as all individual letters. - Red cardboard
As a highlight for the heart pattern as well as for buttons red cardboard ist used which will provide a great contrast with the white cardboard below/above the middle layer.
I am using a thicker cardboard for for the “white middle-layer" and some regular (thinner) colored papers in order to not make the card to heavy.
