Penguin Heart Couple's Keychains

My daughter wanted a cute gift to share with her boyfriend before they headed off to their separate universities for the spring semester. She loves penguins and asked me to create this couples' keychain set for them.
We used AImake to generate the penguins (Vector-2D Graphics with the prompt: 2 cute penguins holding hands) and imported the vector image into XCS. We set the vector image to engrave and added a 0mm offset to create the cutting outline. We also added a heart between their inner hands and keychain holes to their outer hands. That way, the project would generate 2 penguin keychains that would hold a heart between them when held together. We processed the first set on 3mm basswood.
To create the same black and white image on acrylic, we converted the SVG into a PNG using Adobe Illustrator and then inverted the image in XCS. We added the cutting outline, heart, and keychain holes as above, and processed it on black acrylic.
The XCS project includes both the original (for wood) and the inverted (for dark materials) designs on separate canvases. There's also an option to personalize the wooden keychains by adding your initials to the penguins.

Select the canvas you want to process:
Canvas 1 - for light woods like basswood or maple. The black parts of the penguin will be engraved.
Canvas 2 - for dark materials like black acrylic or slate. The penguin image is inverted so that the white parts of the penguin will be engraved.
Cavas 3 - for lights woods, with initials. Replace the letter “A” with your and your loved one's initials.
Use the machine's camera to position the design on your material. Auto-measure the distance from the laser to the material.
The XCS file includes recommended P2S 55W laser engrave and cut settings for 3mm basswood and 3mm black opaque glossy acrylic. You may need to adjust these settings based on your laser and materials.
Process the design and present your special someone with a token of your affection that they can take anywhere. :)
