Made a 4 layer artwork to be framed or hung on wall. Used Palm trees for a Southern touch to the Artwork. Some engraving on silhouette to give some small detail to them and not just a plain silhouette. Created a custom box to hold the layers as well as a glass pane and picture backing with leg from a 7x7 kit from dollar tree. If you have frames that hold 1/2" of material, should work fine as well. This is my first multi-layered custom artwork I have created. Hope everyone enjoys.
Cut all 6 canvas files out to have all your pieces ready if using frame box included, otherwise only cut 1st 4 canvas files. Have screenshot above which you can see in green writing the 1st layer-top is located. Click this to see rest. May show different name there but you can see all 6 layers to cut this out afterwards. I had painted layer 1 and 3 in above picture already. Also show all 4 layers before painting clamped together. The included box frame on last 2 canvas files is what I used and leaves a little space after assembly. Could add 1 more layer possibly, miscalculated thickness of glass and backing when designing box. All stays together fine and shouldn't cause issues. 1st time creating a box for multi-layered art, will probably use less joints for easier assembly next time.
I started assembling box first and be very gentle when assembling as it can break easily and is a tight fit. I found that gently starting in 1 corner and working around just barely starting all joints allowed to put some glue in some joints before working back around a couple more passes to get wood to press together. May need a small hammer to assist but be gentle, if break a spot, glue usually fixes easy enough. Only assemble the sides and front right now. DO NOT complete box yet.
Place all layers into box, I put in glass, 1st Love layer, couples layer, tree layer, back layer and then picture frame backing. After all layers are in, you can install back holder now and follow same procedure as above working your way around to properly seat the wood. After it is together, Its complete.
