The Journey Behind the Keychain: From Idea to Creation
When I started brainstorming this project, I knew I wanted to create something special—something meaningful, custom to each buyer, and affordable. As a beginner using my F1 and S1 laser machines, I wanted a project that wasn’t overwhelming but still showcased the possibilities of these tools.
The idea came together when I discovered that every song on Spotify has a free QR code. This opened up the possibility to create keychains that link directly to someone’s favorite song—what better way to capture a memory or express love?
To add even more value, I wanted to include a personal touch: a space for a photo or a heartfelt message inside the keychain. My 7-year-old son, Slade, stepped in here—he’s been learning to sublimate photos, and this was a perfect opportunity for us to collaborate. Not only did this keep costs down, but it also made the project even more special, as we could work together to bring the keychains to life.
From laser engraving to sublimation, every step of this process is a blend of creativity, technology, and teamwork. Seeing the joy these keychains bring to others has been the most rewarding part of the journey!
