Express your love in every language with this captivating piece of art. "Language of Love" features the phrase "I love you" artfully crafted in various languages, using delicate and durable materials like thin wood, MDF, or acrylic. Each word is meticulously designed to capture the essence of love in its most universal form. Whether as a gift for a loved one or a statement piece for your home, this artwork brings a touch of global romance and elegance to any space.
Before beginning, decide what size you want the finished product to be. Mine is 8in x 10in. Also, decide what materials you want to use. I used 3mm Whiteboard for my phrases, 3mm Basswood for the back mounting board, and red construction paper glued to the back of the mounting board.
I cut my prototype out of cardboard first so I could determine size of the phrases, placement of the hearts, etc.
Settings will vary based on your machine and the materials you choose.
For the back mounting board:
Step 1: If necessary, Prep your Basswood by staining it your preferred color. I used True Black stain. Let the stain dry completely.
Step 2: In xTool Creative Space set your material to your chosen material. Place your shape on the canvas and set it to the Black layer to Cut. The shape I chose is an 8x10 rectangle. I also placed hearts on the left and right sides of the rectangle to be cut out on this step.
Step 3: Cut your material for the back mounting board to the size you decided on. Note: You can cut first and then stain if that is the way you prefer to do it.
Step 4: Clean any charring that may be on your material from the cut step.
For the words:
Step 1: In xTool Creative Space and add Text to your canvas. Choose your preferred font style and size. I used the phrase “I Love You” in six different languages. You can choose your own phrases and languages to use. The process will be the same.
Step 2: Weld each of your phrases to convert them to a vector.
Step 3: Set your phrases to the Blue Layer and set to Engrave.
Step 4: Set an outline on each of your phrases at 2mm. Move to the Black layer and set to Cut.
Step 5: Run your job to engrave and cut the phrases.
Step 6: Clean any charring that may be on your material from the engrave and cut steps.
Assembly:
Determine your placement for each phrase. Do this step without glue, or “dry fit” them first. Once you are pleased with the placement, glue each phrase in its place. I used a weighted board to press them once they were all in place. You can also use quick-set glue but be quick!
I also glued a piece of red scrapbook paper to the back of the project so the hearts look red from the front.
As a final step, I sprayed my project with a clear coat and let it dry completely before displaying it.
Happy Valentine's Day! Spread the love!
