This heartfelt Valentine’s Day project combines creativity and craftsmanship to convey a timeless message about love. Featuring a handcrafted sign holder paired with an elegant, two-toned sign insert, the design radiates warmth and charm. The sign reads: “Love is… someone who helps you reach for that unreachable star”, accompanied by a playful and uplifting illustration that brings the sentiment to life. The sign holder is designed to securely display the message, making it perfect for home décor, gifting, or special occasions. A tribute to the power of love and support, this project is sure to capture hearts!
1. For the Sign Frame:
• Choose a 3mm material for the sign frame. A single sheet measuring 12” x 20” will be sufficient.
• I recommend using 3mm Maple Plywood, as it provides a smooth finish and excellent durability.
2. For the Sign Insert:
• Select a material suitable for engraving. I used 3mm Two-Tone Acrylic (Red to White), which reveals the design beautifully when engraved.
3. Material Source:
• All materials were purchased through xTool’s website, offering high-quality options for this project.
Once your materials are ready, you’re set to move on to cutting the components.
1. Prepare the File and Material:
• Open the sign stand file in Creative Space and place your 12” x 20” 3mm material in the laser cutter.
• Set the appropriate cutting height and arrange the file components within the laser boundaries.
2. Cut the Pieces:
• Begin the cutting process and ensure all frame and base parts are cleanly cut. Remove the parts carefully from the laser bed to avoid damage.
3. Assemble the Frame:
• Apply a small amount of glue along the edges of the frame pieces.
• Align the parts carefully to ensure proper fit and eliminate gaps.
• Use clamps to hold the frame together while the glue dries. Wipe away any excess glue immediately to avoid a messy finish.
4. Assemble the Base:
• Glue the base pieces together, ensuring they are properly aligned.
• Use the same clamping and cleaning process as the frame to achieve a neat and secure assembly.
5. Combine the Frame and Base:
• Once both the frame and base are fully dry, apply glue to the connection points and attach them together.
With the stand fully assembled and dried, you’re ready to move on to creating the sign.
1. Prepare the Material:
• Place the Two-Tone Red to White 3mm material (or your chosen material) into the laser cutter. Ensure it is flat and secure on the laser bed.
2. Set Cutting and Engraving Parameters:
• Load the design file into your laser software and position the file components within the laser boundaries.
• Adjust the cutting and engraving height and settings according to the material specifications to achieve clean cuts and detailed engravings.
3. Cut and Engrave the Sign:
• Begin the laser process to cut out the sign shape and engrave the design. Monitor the progress to ensure precision and accuracy.
4. Clean the Sign:
• Once the cutting and engraving are complete, gently clean the sign to remove any residue or dust. Use a soft cloth or a damp microfiber cloth for acrylic materials to avoid scratches.
5. Prepare for Assembly:
• After cleaning, the sign is ready to be inserted into the sign holder.
With your sign complete, you’re ready to assemble the final project.
1. Insert the Sign:
• Carefully slide the engraved sign into the slot on the assembled sign holder. Ensure it fits snugly and is properly aligned for the best display.
2. Final Adjustments:
• Check that the sign is securely positioned in the holder and that the design is clearly visible.
• If necessary, clean off any fingerprints or smudges on the sign or holder.
3. Display and Enjoy:
• Place your finished project in your desired location to showcase your work. Enjoy the beauty and craftsmanship of your Valentine’s Day Sign Holder!
Congratulations on completing this project!
