Here are my test array settings for colouring stainless steel using Blue Light. It is important to always do test arrays first so then you can see the colours that come out on your S/S Blanks. Hope you enjoy. You can adapt these files for any Stainless Steel blanks, just adjust the size to fit your blank.
Note: My test arrays were done on Polished 201 Stainless Steel with a depth of 1mm.
Open all or one of the Test Array Files in XCS.
Place your item where you want it on the bed of the Ultra. Ensure you have cleaned your piece of all residue from fingerprints or other stuff, as not cleaning can affect the final product.
I find clicking on the “Refresh Background” Camera Icon first helps with the autofocus, then (if you want to autofocus) clicking on the “Auto-Measure” Icon . Please do not change the material from <User Defined> as this will cause the entire print to come out wrong.
Move the Test array (select all first – as the IR & BL items are not grouped) to approximately where you want it on the piece, then click the “Framing” Button (lower right) and again select all (DesignFind unchecks as soon as you click on Framing) then manually move the test array so that it is where you want it on your piece. Click on the “Stop Framing” button.
Stop the framing on your machine. Close the shield and press the “Process” button. Click the “Start” button. Go over to the F1 Ultra Control Panel and Click to start engraving. Have fun
