Simple holder for the tools and pens that come with the M1 Ultra. The parts can easily be cut on the M1 Ultra from 3mm basswood. With correct kerf offsets in XCS these parts can simply be pressed together with no glue needed. This can be cut from a single piece of 12x12 in 3mm Basswood. I used Select Basswood from XTool. To get a nice fit in the finger joints the kerf offset settings are critical. I used the following on my M1 Ultra: For the middle shelf slots: -0.06 For the rest of the holder: -0.10 The second canvas in XCS has test pieces that you can use to test your kerf settings. The fingers and slots are identical to the holder pieces. I would suggest testing before cutting the full holder to save material.
With the right kerf offset this should just press together with no need for glue. If the parts are tight you may need a gentle tap with a small hammer to get them to seat completely. If it seems loose you can always add a bit of glue to the joints.
The second canvas has test parts to test your kerf offsets before cutting the full holder. I recommend cutting these so that you don't waste material cutting out the whole holder than finding that the joints are too loose or too tight.
Insert the middle shelf into one end piece. The top and middle shelves are identical so it doesn't matter which one you select.
Note that one of the large holes is oblong to hold the roller cutter. You can place this in either side but you will need to be consistent when you add the top shelf in a following step.
Attach the other end piece to the middle shelf. If the joints are tight you may find it easier to use a few gentle taps with a hammer to fully seat the fingers into the slots.
Add the top being careful to make sure that the oblong hole lines up with the oblong hole in the middle shelf.
Finally attach the bottom to complete your holder.
Now just insert your tools and pens. The roller cutter will only fit in the oblong hole. The rest of the tools will fit in any of the remaining holes. I insert the pens with the cap side down. There's a little cutout to accomodate the tab on the cap of the pen. You can also put them in with the cap up if you wish.
Enjoy!
