It’s an Apple iPad I engraved my name on. This was done on a 7th generation. I do not know what power settings work best for the other models. The finished product results in a very nice looking white on the gold color. I blacked out a part of my name, but you can see Fe. I think I would much prefer this to the Apple style engraving. These settings are for the back. I do not recommend engraving the front. I don't know what happens if you use different powers.
Tape it down with strong tape. You do not want to moving during processing. To do this use a tape like duck tape, and roll up into a tube, and stick either on the screen or the processing area. This method is intended for use with a wood or metal base, it might not work with the honeycomb panel, due to large gaps everywhere on the board. Use any amount of tape. I opted for 3 pieces.
This is your iPad, not mine. Design what you want. I just put my name on it. you can really do anything, but I don't think its a good idea to engrave the Apple logo, because it appears to be like a mirror. Why risk it?
You want to make sure that you are putting it EXACTLY where you want as it is PERMANENT. If you don't already know, this feature borders the entire project so you can place it exactly where you want it. This is great for most anything, but extremely useful when processing something like this.
Send it through and your iPad is complete! this part took about 15 minutes for my name. If you are doing something larger, expect longer process times.
