Set of earrings to for the holidays. A reminder of a holiday classic movie. "You'll shoot your eye out!"
In this step, open the XCS file. There are three items to cut. 1 red and 2 black pieces.
Notes on constructing earring components. I've found a 1.5mm thru hole a good size for attaching jump rings to hardware. The thickness of the acrylic typically lends to 6mm jump rings being a good size for attaching hardware together. In some instances its good to either go up to 8mm or down to 4mm rings.
Creating “thicker” fonts. Sometimes, I have found a font I would like to use, but its too skinny for acrylic.
Arrange the letters, merge them.
Create an outline of the letters. Something in the range of 0.5mm adds thickness without losing the detail of the lettering.
Notice that this only creates an outline of the outside line of the letters.
Select the original lettering and select “Edit Compound”.
Delete the outer line of the words.
Select the outline you created and all the leftover parts of the letters. select “Subtract at overlap” and now you have thicker letters for the words.
Afterwords, add a 5mm circle at the top and merge it. then center a 1.5mm circle inside that circle and subtract.
Assemble the earrings and enjoy.
