To create a nice relief for a gift card, start with AImake and try different prompts. The one i used worked pretty nicely and after the 2nd try i was pleased with the outcome. Download the png-file!

The next steps are only necessary if you want to make this project with your own AI-generated picture:

  1. In XTool Creative Space import the picture and duplicate it.
  2. Adjust the colour settings as shown in the first picture to get rid of the colours.
  3. In the duplicate change the greyscale as shown in the second picture so that only the darker spaces are left
  4. Align the two pictures horizontally and vertically.
  5. Group the two pictures and you are ready for the next step!

After adding a rectangle around the group of pictures and also aligning it, you can add text as cut out. To make the text fixed to the card itself, follow the following steps:

  1. Add your own text in a style that is not to thin so it doesn't break when cut out
  2. Adjust the size of the text to the width of your card
  3. Add a rectangle behind the text and combine the text and the rectangle with “separate when overlapping". After that you can delete the rectangle again.
  4. Now you can adjust the position of single letters (e.g. lower letters if not aligned with the others) and add the point of the i to the i itself.
  5. Bring the text down to the rectangle around the pictures and align it with the top line of it. Bring it down a little bit so that it overlaps with the rectangle
  6. Now combine the text and the rectangle with the “melting” tool and delete the small pieces that are left and don't have to be cut out.
  7. Now you only have to select all the lines that have to be cut out and adjust your laser settings.

Step4: Cutting and finishing

The final step takes a lot of time but your laser will do the work for you!
Insert the 3mm birch plywood or the wood you chose and measure its height.

Open the XCS file or start the one you created and cut the christmas card with the settings above!

After about 2 hours you can finish the christmas card with some sanding and brushing and you are good to go!

Have fun with this project!
