You need "stenciled fonts". Search it in www to find free fonts.
You need 4 or 5 passages to cut the material. You will see it, if the laser passes through the ground. Cutted material maybe will fall down :-)

The height of the letters should be 11-12mm maximum. So the stability of the foldable ruler after cutting is given.
