Step1: Step 1 Engaving

Step 1) Engrave your desired graphic on whatever substrate you choose, this project it is bamboo. I engrave with about 10% extra power from a slightly deeper engraving. Depending on what you ar engraving this might be different. You will want to have an engraving at least 1mm deep.

Step2: Step 2) Applying Powder coat paint.

Step 2) In the step you will pour the powder paint over the engraving, making sure the entire area is covered, an easy way to achieve this is to use a scraper such as a metal business card or a credit card. move the powder coating all around and level it with the card, remove the extra powder paint by scrapping it off the board.

Step3: Step 3)

Step 3) With this step a heat gun is needed, if you don't have a heat gun a blow dry will work it will just be a little slower. So apply the heat very slowly from a good distance so you don't blow away the powder coating as it is like a fine dust. It doesn't take long for it to start to bond and stay in place, once you see it is starting to sparkle you can get a little closer with the heat. When all the the engraving has changed to a sparkle remove heat and let cool.

Step4: Finishing Up and Clean up

step 4)  in this step the engraved piece is cool so clean up is easy with 320grit sand paper, gently and lightly sand the area wipe the area off with a damp cloth and you are done…..This piece is a BBQ scraper so no need to worry about being food safe. But once finished a board with this method can be used as a serving tray if you apply a food safe butcher block oil when finished.
