I hate waste and saw @dillonsimeone makes cute hex shaped bee token and was wondering what I could do with all these circles I had from a different project I was working on. The kids said they looked like the poke balls from Pokemon. So we decided to try out the smart fill function and make these super cute poke balls. The kids painted them and they are so cute. The kids are just throwing them around the house now :) but they said they want to give them out as party favors in their school treat bags. We will probably add a little hole so they can be made into keychains or ornaments
Place scrap circle material on bed. The honeycomb isn't necessary but I makes tossing smaller pieces out for engraving easy.
Take a photo using the close up camera. This will help to ensure your engraving is lined up well.
Select “Slats flat” mode and select your material. I am using 3mm Basswood and used the XCS settings for that material. The center circle is scored while the middle main design is engraved.
Use the “Smart fill” function to have the program place the image over all of your pieces. The placement isn't always perfect but it is a quick and easy way to duplicate the image and get it close to where you need it. Use the close up camera to adjust the placements.
Process. Grab your pieces from the P2 and paint them. That's it! Super quick, fun and very cute.
…and then make more because they will want more!
