Step1: Get Your Materials

Gather up all the materials you need. 3 pieces of 12x12 stock, some tissue paper, paint, glue, and fairly lights or an LED tea light.

Download and open the XCS file if you have not already. Ensure that the cut and score settings align with your laser.

Step2: Cut and Engrave Away!

There are two layers, a red and blue.

Blue = Engrave

Red = Cut

I have a S1 20W, so cutting takes a bit of time. In fact, the majority of time in this project is cutting.

When you are ready, process the image, start it, then hit the button!

Dry fit the pieces together to make sure they fit. Then, paint them and allow to dry. A hair dryer can help speed up the drying process. Use low heat and slowly blow the pieces dry. Depending on the paint you use, a second coat may be required.

Next, carefully glue the tissue paper to the back side of each lantern side. Then, glue the four sides together. Make sure that the sides are oriented correctly. Learn from my mistake ;)

After that, glue the top and bottom piece. The bottom piece has the hole in it.

Step4: Add the Light, and Enjoy!

You're almost done! Carefully place the fairy lights in the lantern. Or if you wish, use an LED tea light for a similar effect. Using fairy lights will give you a more consistent look, while the tea lights will slowly get dimmer towards the top of the lantern. Nice job!!!
