Instruction
1
Step1: Clean and prep

Clean the glass plate, then put into the P2.  Use a piece of easily removed masking tape on the top surface of the glass in the middle of the plate, use the aimed view in XCS to measure the thickness where you put the tape, then remove tape after thickness measured.  I use ‘frog tape’ green painter's tape.

Step2: Design process
Preview

Used Aimake AI tool to generate the hedgehog.  Prompt was ‘darling hedgehog cutely eating Thanksgiving dinner’.  Then removed the background.  Used image of plate to fit a circle (6/3" diameter) to the flat center area, then scaled hedgehog to size and centered hedgehog relative to circle.

Next you put in the text, I used ‘Dancing Script’ font and fitted the curvature of the text to the circle.  Also used circle to visually align the text.  After the hedgehog and text were scaled and fitted, deleted the circle.  Then added the little cat from the XCS built-in ‘festival’ images to give a sense of scale, and because my daughter loves both hedgehogs and cats.

Step3: cut and enjoy

I used 30% power, 300mm/sec speed on my P2S.  If I run it again I'll probably reduce the power a bit (say, 25%) as the plate may have been stressed a bit doing the hedgehog.  but for a quickie, came out nice.

Two other comments.

1) in my plate the lower case ‘h’ in “Thanksgiving” came out wrong.  Think this may have been a data transfer error between XCS and the P2S, but could be the font.  You might want to try a different font.

2) The plate has a significant lip, it's a close fit under the laser.  Might want to try removing the slats/honeycomb plate and see if you can run it on the baseplate instead.

While I didn't plan to put anything around the rim for myself, if you use the curved surface mapper an array of snowflakes around the rim might be nice.
