Step1: prep wood for backer
Dye a 12x12 sheet of 3mm basswood to whatever color you desire. you can also stain if you so choose. once dry seal with spray laquer

Step2: cut material
Cut both upper layer and bottom layer. canvas1 is the top layer, canvas 2/backer is the bottom layer

Step3: join layers
Join top layer& bottom layer with whatever meathod you choose. i joined the two layers with CA Glue

Step4: apply finish
once two layers are joined you can apply your finish of choice. i sprayed a few layers of spray shellac to seal up the project. it also allows me to personalize the ornament at a later date.
