Is there a foodie in your life? Are you a foodie? Then this is for you! If not, that's OK too.
Gather up your paints and glue, so it's all in one place and ready to go. If you haven't done so already, download the file and open it in XCS. You will also need one piece of 12x12 basswood or other stock for the sign.
There are two layers in the project, a red layer and a black layer.
Red Layer - Cut
Black Layer - Score
Load your material in the laser, focus the laser and then map the cut area. Make sure that the settings included in the file will work for your laser.
Process the job, click the green start button, and then the button on your laser.
Layout the pieces to paint. I place them on a piece of masking tape that is secured to some craft paper to minimize the mess. That keeps the pieces in place while I use a 4" roller to apply the paint. It makes quick work of painting, and storing the roller in a zip-lock bag makes clean-up effortless. The Antique White may take 2 coats.
Using the scoring on the back plate, carefully glue the words in place. Then, glue on the frame. If you are using Star Bond Thick, you will only have a second or two to align the letters before it is stuck. Other wood glues are more forgiving, but do not dry as quickly.
If you want to set the sign on your desk, glue to two stand pieces to the back.
That's it, you're done! It looks great from here! Put in on your desk, hang it on your wall, or give it to one of your foodie friends as a gift!
