This project was all about planning ahead and using what you have.
The steps are very basic but remember, take your time and "envision" what the end product will look like.
Step 1
After gathering all my material and graphics I researched which settings other Xtoolers were using for their projects.
I began with wood since I was most comfortable with engraving wood.
I imported my chosen graphic for engraving (after converting it at ImagR for Norton:Wood).
Then I outlined the image for cutting.
I sent this project to the M1 it took a little over an hour and 20 min.
For the Denim, I used just the "pocket" section of an old pair of jeans.
They were washed and ironed to give the surface the least amount of obstacles for engraving.
I used a generic graphic, and engraved it directly over the pocket. There was no editing needed.
Engraving on the Denim was about 30-40 min.
Finally for the back I usually engrave my business info as a reference to my customers.
(It's optional, I usually ask a customer "if they mind" that I place my tag on the back.)
(This is an example of what I mark on the back.)
For this commissioned work of art, I went ahead and engraved the back.
Since the settings were low power and slower speed, this took the longest at 87min.
Once all your parts are cut and engraved, it's time to put them all together.
I glued the jeans onto the cardboard backing and allowed to set and dry.
I inserted a red bandana into the pocket and only glued the tip inside the pocket.
Finally I added the wood veneer and lightly glued that to the denim.
Then I glued a single spot of the bandana onto the wood veneer.
All together this project took about 5 hrs over 2 days.
