  1. Add a Shape → Rectangle in the size of 250 x 135 to your canvas
  2. Add a smaller Shape → Rectangle (172.5 x 37) and place it in the upper part of your sign
  3. Mark that smaller rectangle and add an Outline of 2px
  4. Mark both the rectangle and the outline and click on Combine → Substract at overlap
  5. Download a free laser beam vector and add it to the canvas or create one of your own (my laser beam is made of rectangles, stacked, combined and rotated plus a circle in the center)
  6. Add Text: Danger (I used the font “Laser”), adjust the size and place it inside the cutout
  7. Mark the text and the frame and Align → Vertical align center followed by Align → Horizontal align center
  8. (I have added to circles at this point because I originally planned to hang the sign, you can delete them)
  9. Add Text “Laser in use ” and “Protect your eyes!” (Font: Laser) and place both above and below the laser beam
  10. If you wish, add another Text with a special note for your family and friends (Font: Just Sunday)

Step2: Create the back and the sides and cut with your laser

  1. Either make a copy of the very first rectangle or create a new one in the same size
  2. To create the top and the bottom, add a Shape → Rectangle in the size of 250 x 170 and make a copy
  3. Now arrange all your sign elements to different layers
  4. Adjust your Processing type by layer:
  5. Frames, Danger and the laserbeam = cut
  6. The text “Laser in use” and “Protect your eyes” = score
  7. Special note = engrave
  8. Use your favorite settings or use mine, if you are using an M1 and start the process

My piece of acrylic is 250 x 130 mm and with that it is 5mm shorter than the plywood. The difference in hight is needed to have some space for the LED strip.

  1. Add some glue to the back of your plywood and place it on your acrylic, make sure to align it properly
  2. Once your glue sets, add some glue to the bottom of the plywood and place it on one of the two small plywood pieces
  3. Do the same with the top of the sign and the second small plywood piece
  4. Wait until it sets
  5. Take the protection film off of your LED strip and add it to the bottom piece of plywood
  6. Finally add some glue to the top and the bottom of the back plate, place it between the two smaller pieces in the back of the sign and wait for it to dry
  7. Place your warning sign and some extra googles in front of your crafting room door or where ever you are using your laser
