Information
This project is a fun little idea I had that you can do with the kids. It's an easy and adaptable project idea that you can design and make your own versions using your own art.

You can use this idea by adapting your other layered cut projects... It's super easy and simple. Simply get a outline image file like this cute christmas kitty and make a flat outline of it to cut from paper. Then cut an outline part to overlay the paper. Make sure to add a decoration hole ;)

I hope this cute little idea inspires you to make some awesome fun coloured or painted custom decorations!!!

The kitty image was designed by Almake AI, but I edited it and altered it to create this project into a working fun file.

PS. If you change the size of this project you can also make some cute DIY coloured in earrings and pendants too.

01a. Download the files and open it with your preferred program.

01b. Decide on, Position and prep your materials… If you're using paper and acrylic like in my example, add your adhesive to the back of your acrylic (No messy glue situations lol). If you're using paper or canvas, remember to tape it down or use your pins, the lighter material moves easily. If you're using ply as your drawing base, cut it first and then prime and paint it.

01c. Cut the files.

Note: If you're kids need a colouring in guideline on the paper/canvas/wood set the acrylic cut design on your paper and make it either lightly engrave or just a super light cut with very little power to make a drawing outline. then cut the outer outline.

Note: If you want to use all the parts like I did, The single black acrylic cutout makes 2 decorations. One inverted kitty and one outlined kitty. Waste not want not!

02a. Get those pencils, textas, paints out and have some fun!

Note: I used watercolour pencils so that I could colour and paint, but use whatever you can or want <3

Note: If you used a wood base and plan to do some painting, prime it first so the colours don't mute into the wood!

02b. Wait for your work to dry. If you used charcoals or pastels, make sure to coat it in hairspray so the powder sets on the surface.

Note: Colour or paint the back of the paper if you're making a double-sided decoration.

You're almost finished.

03a. Assemble the inverted black kitty design first to not waste your cutout materials. position the kitty main outline on the background cutout (DO NOT REMOVE THE ADHESIVE TAPE FROM THIS PEICE lol). Now take the parts that fit into the cutout and remove the adhesive tape protection from the back and stick them into their place in the outline. When the inside parts are glued into place, tap and lift the outline off and add a ribbon or string and the inverted kitty decoration is done! See the photo step example if you're confused.

03b. Remove the adhesive tape protection off the remaining pieces and position them on your artworks. Stick them down into place.

Note: if you want the artwork edges and black acrylic to be seamless. Get some black marker or paint and color the outer edge where the acrylic meets the paper. Dowing this will make the paper seem like it's part of the acrylic and will make it look more finished.

Note: If you want a seamless double-sided decoration, just flip your material upside down before cutting another acrylic cat (Or leave your material right side up and instead flip the image horizontally in your comp program of choice lol). Cut a second cat and use the reflected image to glue to the ack of the paper as well as the front. (don't forget to color or paint both sides of the paper!) Voila, now you have a double-sided decoration!

03c. Add ribbon, string or chain to your decoration and hang it <3

Great Work! <3 <3 <3

I hope you had fun!
