I used a battery tea light candle that you can get at the Dollar store.
First, do a material test to find out the settings to score the posterboard without cutting through it and then another test for the settings to be able to cut through the posterboard. What you are looking for the first test is to just score the posterboard to be able to bend the posterboard to get straight corners. The settings I came up with are in the photo, but do a test for your machine to get the correct settings.
Once the design was completed, I secured a piece of cardboard with magnet pins to the honeycomb to secure it in place so it wouldn't move.
If you need pins, these are useful ( xTool Honeycomb Material Pin )
When cutting this out I lowered my air assist pressure because it was blowing the cut pieces in the path of the laser. Once the project is cut out the cut pieces should just fall out but if not us something to poke at them and they should separate easily.
Now you should have four scored lines on the main piece and four of the top piece. The black score lines should be the inside of the project. Carefully bend them and they should form the corners. Repeat this process with the top piece. I bent them both ways using a ruler as a straight edge to try to keep the corners straight.
Once you have all the corners bent you can start to glue the top to the walls. I started with the wall that has the little extra lip and worked around unit all four walls were glued to the top piece. On the last wall leave a little of the top piece unglued so you can glue the extra lip from the first wall to the inside of the last wall completing the four walls of the project.
I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I was thinking about making 3 of the walls without a design and only one with a design and testing to see if it would project on to a surface.
