Information

      In this tutorial I'll show you how to create a sign to easily share your network with your guests, using a QR code generated with the XCS software.

Instruction

Step1: Create the roof of a house

Preview

Add a Shape → Hexagon to the canvas
Set Outline 2mm, mark both shapes and click Combine → Substract at overlap
Rotate 90°
Add a Shape → Rectangle and place it on top of the Hexagon
Mark both shapes and Combine → Substract at overlap

Step2: Add a second roof and a chimney

Preview

Copy the first roof, adjust the size and place it behind the first roof and Combine → Unite
Add a Shape → Rectangle
Move the rectangle above the part that isn't needed and delete it with Combine → Substract
To create a chimney add a Shape → Rectangle, followed by an Outline 2mm, place it on a roof
Combine → Unite to connect the chimney to the roof
Repeat step 3 and delete the excessive part

Step3: Add a wifi symbol and text

Preview

Create a wifi symbol or download a free vector from a website like pixabay and place it above the chimney
Add a text of your choice. My choice is “Be our guest” and I used the font “Book Signature”
Add a Shape → Rectangle, copy and paste it, mark both shapes and Align → Horizontal align center
Add Text: Network and Password, place both words above the rectangles, mark words and rectangles and Align → Horizontal align center one more time (Note: use a different font of your choice)
Add Text: Name of your Wifi and a row of stars (you can also fill in your password if you wish)
Align → Horizontal align center followed by a Align → Vertical align center to have your wifi name and password perfectly centered within the rectangles

Step4: Add a QR code

Preview

Add Code → QR code and add your wifi's information. It should look like this:
WIFI:S:NAMEOFYOURWIFI;T:PICKYOURSECURITYPROTOCOL;P:YOURPASSWORD;;
It should look like this: WIFI:S:KioukisWifi;T:WPA;P:Not123456789;;
Now make your final arrangements
Add a Shape → Rectangle in your desired size around your design and make sure to align it properly

Step5: Finalize

Preview

Sort your project by layers
Mark the roof and the words “Network” and “Password” and move them to one layer, rename the layer to “Engrave”
Set the layer to the Processing type → Engrave and adjust the values to your liking or use mine
Mark “Be our guest”, “Name of your wifi” and the “Stars or the password” and move them to a new layer, rename that layer to “Score”
Set that layers Processing type → to Score and adjust the values or use mine
Mark and move the QR code to another layer, rename it and set the Processing type → Engrave and adjust the settings
Finally, move the frame to a layer, rename it to “Cut” and set the Processing type → Cut, change settings or use mine
Before you send the command to start the process make sure to set the Processing path to “By Layer”
