[Style] Block printing [Prompt] Krampus This project is an example of the results that can be achieved by 'engraving' the back of a mirror tile. Most mirror tiles are 12 x 12 - the maximum working area of the M1Ultra!
This step is very important; if you do not rise the mirror surface off the honeycomb, the design of the honeycomb will be etched into the silver. If you lye down paper, or any other material the surface will be discolored.
The best results are achieved by using the scrap plywood pieces you have laying around ( after all, you are also laser cutting right ? ) - and place in the corners.
It may seem obvious, but the laser will remove the silver. Depending on your preference you may wish to use image software such s GIMP ( Photoshop if you are rich ) to ‘invert’ the image. Invert will change the black to white, and white to black. Invert in GIMP is under the COLORS toolbar.
This was a guess in the laser settings.
We used 100% power, speed of 70. It was a guess. not a guess, a calculated and educated decision!
Not enough power and the backing and silver will not be removed, too much power, its cutting/breaking the glass.
its better to error on not enough power, you can always re-process the full tile.
Once done, the back surface will be covered with fine dust; it will appear that the machine did not etch off the silver ( its that dusty ). TRY REALLY HARD to not move the mirror while you brush the surface off with Isopropyl Alcohol and lint free rag.
Sure, you can use water - but you're adding steps ; Isopropyl Alcohol will evaporate.
Spray paint the back surface if you want the void you just created to be colored.
Or leave it as a void.
