Well we all know the importance of a BBQ grill is to be cleaned properly, old days it was a wire brush did all the dirty work but far more than often people were finding small little steel bristles in their food from them falling off the old wire brush. Someone very small came up with a unique way of cleaning the grill with just scraping it with a piece of wood. Some use cedar but I like bamboo as it doesn't stain as easy and is more durable. Here is my version with the help of Xtool.
Step 1) This project is designed completely with XCS software, It is mainly from the shape list, a large fork and spoon cross is brought in and placed on the work area, this spoon and fork is set to be engraved a little deeper than usual as it will be filled with resin later on. Along with that shape some wording of big bubba's bbq is added with the font selected from the text edit section. As you can see the curved text comes into play and works nicely for this design. just a simple curve yet effective.
Step 2) Once the design is centered and in place on the bamboo grill cleaner it is off to the laser, once it is complete a 2 part resin is mixed with the desired color, in this case I went with a sliver tone to lighten up the engraving. Once the resin was mixed together and the color was added it was slowly poured over the engraving. the extra resin is carefully scrapped off using a sharp straight object, a Xtool metal business card comes in handy for this. When you get practice doing this each time it gets easier and easier.
Step 3) Once the resin is dry (about 12 hours minimum) it can be lightly sanded with 500-600 grit sand paper and a light clear coat added to protect the entire porject.
