Information
      Made some etched shot glasses with my P2. Wanted to share so we have more P2 content.

Step1: Find or create a holder and level the shot glass.

  • In xTool Creative, create a new project and set the mode to “Open plane”
  • You can download the attached file, but please note that the image has been changed to a generic star as I don't own the rights to share the Texas Love Image I used
  • After a few failed attempts with the RA2 Pro, I sought out a Jig to hold the shot glasses level. I thought I would have to create one until I found a tray from an old toolbox that was the perfect size. It was tight enough to hold the glass in place and still be able to adjust to make it level
  • Move the base plate to the needed setting for the height of your jig. In my case, it was at position 1a
  • Wedge the shot glass into the jig space and ensure it is level

Step2: Manually measure the focal distance

Because the glass is clear, the automatic measure feature is not reliable. I've heard that others have succeeded with adding tape inside or tissue paper. The shot glass I am using is pretty thick, so I manually measured the focal distance so that all parameters were taken into account. You can leave the material as user-defined.

I used this guide and manually measured the focal distance of the highest point of the leveled shot glass. In this case, it was 27 mm. Insert your measure into the Distance field. Use “Auto-planning” for the Processing path.

Ensure that you return to the home position after measuring or you will find that you will only image part of your work area in the next step.

Step3: Place the image and process the project

  • Refresh the work area image and capture a close view of the shot glass
  • Choose an image that is dense with large, broad features. Small details will be difficult to see in such a small area
  • Place the image in the area desired, taking care of the shot glass orientation
  • Click process and watch the magic happen!

My project only took 2 min 18 sec to process. If you are using a vector image, the process would take much longer. So, consider converting the file into a png.
