Step1: Cutting the parts

Creating some blank key fobs is pretty easy. Just press “c” in XTool Creative Space and hold “shift” to draw a circle. Adjust the size as you like it and add a small circle for the key rings. Cut the pieces with the settings above.

Step2: Generate pictures

Go to AImake and insert a prompt, i used “visual arts” to create some simple african animals with coloured rectangles which are easy to print and sublimate.
Save an svg and if you want to print you can change the file type to jpeg afterwards.

Step3: The sublimation

  1. To prepare the sublimation, print the “animals.pdf” with a sublimation printer onto sublimation paper. (You can also use the svg-files above for laser engraving!)
  2. Heat up the heat press to 205°C.
  3. Prepare the wooden tags and fix the printed animals face down onto them with heat-resistant tape.
  4. Put the tags onto the platform of the heatpress and let the press work for 100s to 150s.

Step4: Adding metal rings

Finally, add metal rings to use the wooden tags as key fobs! Have fun with this project!
