My wife and I love animals, particularly dogs and birds. I wanted an ornament that showed dogs singing christmas carols and this was the result. Enjoy!

Step1: Before you begin

It is very important to note that since this includes a “photo” that the settings listed in the next step for the engrave will be entirely varied for each person. I used the same exact settings on both Birch and Ecobirch and you can see a slight difference. Not only that, you may want to adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness to get the photo looking just the way you want.
Also note, this was done on the P2 and as such, the settings may work for you on the same machine with the same material but if using a different machine/material, you will need to adjust the settings accordingly.

Step2: Engrave and Cut

There are 3 different settings for this. Dark Blue is the Lettering engraving, Light Blue is the Photo Engraving and Red is cutting.

As you can see in the photos, the settings for lettering and photo are almost identical. I wanted the same depth so I kept the power and speed the same and just adjusted the LPC. Make sure your settings for the photo are different than the lettering as it can lead to a very different look than what you are trying to achieve. Even a difference in LPC can make the look off and provide unnecessary scorching.

Speaking of which, if you use Birch 3mm, you will have to provide a light sand unless you mask or protect your wood. This will help eliminate the scorching. With Ecobirch (or Faux Maple from xTool - which I have used on this ornament recently) can just wipe the scorching away, even on the photo.
