Summer 2023 has been mostly rainy where I live and since I could not go on vacation, I created some vacation for my t-shirt.
I used shapes that are included in the xTool Creative Space software. You can find them under Shape → Plant. For a more natural look combine two palm tree shapes. To make them look like one palm tree, simply put them together, mark them both and click Combine → Unite.
Then line them up using the grid for help. To create a sun, click on Insert → Circle, dragg it to the right size while holding the shift key to achieve a perfect circle.
Using the Vector tool, create a horizon. Add some curves to the shape. To achieve this, simply draw a bar with multipe anchors and close the shape by getting back to the first green circle created by the Vector tool. Double click the shape, then double click on one of the green circles and gently move it around to achieve a curved line.
Now it is time to adjust the shape of the sun. Open the lock at the top bar and resize the shape until you are satisfied. Once that is done, mark all shapes on the canvas and click on Combine → Unite.
To delete the bottom part of the sun add a rectangle, place it onto the bottom of the sun, marke both shapes and use Combine → Substract.
For the writing, I used the font Beautiful Holiday. You can use any handwritten font you like and use the Weld function to vectorize your words. If you have any letters that are not combined, read on to learn how I brought my letters togehter:
First I used the Weld function to combine the overlapping letters. The letter “S” was on its own so I made a copy of the writing and put a rectangle on top of the letters “ummer”, marked that box and marked the whole word and used the Combine → Substract function.
Then I did the same with the copy of Summer, just this time I had to use the Vector to draw a box around the “S”, then used the same technique as before → Substract.
Now I had an “S” and “ummer”. I lined them up together so that the S would touch the u to use Combine → Unite.
For the writing on the word “Nights” I used the same technique as in step 3 to combine the letter “i” with its point.
Draw a circle around that point, mark it, mark the whole word “Nights” and Combine → Substract. Create a new shape of a circle, place it right on top of the letter “i”, mark the circle and the whole word and Combine → Unite.
Seagulls can be easily drawn with the Vector tool, kinda like the shape of a V. After closing the path double click on the shape and double click on the circles to give it a smooth and round finish. Copy and paste then spread them on the canvas.
Lastly, the design needs an island. Use the Vector tool to create the shape of an island. Double click on the shape then double click on the circles and adjust as needed, to achieve a more natural look without sharp edges. Then plac the island right under the design and use the Combine → Unite feature for the last time.
To cut the design it is important to mirror it by using the function Reflect - Reflect horizontally.
Place the lightgrip mat into the M1 and set it to the Blade Cut feature. Material setting: PU HTV Vinyl. It should take around 6 minutes to cut the design.
Weed off the excessive vinyl while pre-heating a heat press or an iron. Pre-press the shirt to make sure it is 100% dry, and use a lint roller to clean off (kitty ;) ) hair, then press.
For the material that I used, I had to do two rounds of pressing. First the poli-flex vinyl, followed by the magic effect foil. This special foil needs to be very cool before the foil can be pulled off the t-shirt.
