I don't typically design or make earrings, I myself is not a jewelry persons, so for this "Summer Craft Challenge", I decide to challenge myself to create some summer fruit earrings designs. Here is my first pair - Pineapple earrings
Summer is really not the season for me, since I don't do well in the heat, so I was thinking to create something more fun and colorful, hopefully will lighten up my hot summer days.
After few scribbled, I decided on this two design:
First one is just some curved diagonal lines, Criss cross them to create the stylized pattern of the pineapple.
Second one is going to be sort of fun in the sun at the beach scene.
I decided put them to the test.
Of course, I upload the sketch PNG to the the Silhouette Studio, with “Trace” function, convert the design to vector format. Then separate the image into serval different pieces, so I am able to do multiple colors.
Basically, each pineapple will have two layers, the bottom layer is a solid backing with the whole pineapple silhouette, the front piece, include a leaves piece, then the pineapple body.
For the first one the body is just the Criss cross grid (see Photo 1), and for the fun in the sun one, I created 5 separate color pieces and a sun (see Photo 2).
I also thinking to create the earring with combination of the stud and the dangle, so I create a small round with the corresponding design on it.
Save the design to SVG format.
Upload the SVG design file onto xTool Creative Space, for 1.5mm Basswood, I use 100/4/1 for the cut setting, with the help of xTool Air Assist and Air Purifier, so the cut came out great.
Since the pieces are rather small (see Photo 1), when I try to pick them up with my finger, quite a few of them actually drop off the honeycomb to the bottom plate.
So the second time, with the help of masking tape, I was able to pick up most of the pieces without dropping them, and also they are all stick together (see Photo 2), that make it a lot easier to get all the pieces out, and I don't have to resort them.
Again, dealing with small pieces, painting them is not easy to handle.
