We like to put down some masking tape before engraving or cutting the wood. Apply a single layer and try not to overlap the edges or leave any gaps.

We like to put some black paint on before removing the tape but you can leave it as is

Next we remove the tape and apply either a stain or a coat of diluted acrylic paint and water to give it an aged and rustic look. And you are all done!
